In nature, silicon carbide is also as known as carborundum, it exists in the form of the rare mineral—moissanite. Silicon carbide is as quartz sand, petroleum coke( or coal) and wood chips as raw material by smeltting at high temperature in electric resistance furnace. Black silicon carbide is one of the most popular silicon carbides, it adopts quartz sand, anthracite coal or petroleum coke as basic raw materials and generated as a non-metallic minerals under in condition of over 1800℃. It divides into particle size sand and powder.
1. High hardness.
2. Low expansion coefficient.
3. Brittle and sharp.
4. Good thermal conductivity.
It is suitable for refractory material, abrasives, special ceramics, deoxidizer for steel-making, etc.
